I’m Shane Parker. I build software to empower people.
I spent countless hours tinkering with computers and playing games as a child, which sparked a lifelong interest in software development. While I was creating custom maps and scripts in Warcraft 3, I knew I wanted to do this forever. My parents buying me a computer for my 10th birthday was my greatest gift. It was also probably a cursed blessing, as I spent the next 10 years of my life playing video games and doing nothing else. At least it got me to where I am today!
My inspiration to code stems from the desire to optimize everyday things around the world and make them more efficient for other people. I love sharing my knowledge through the role of educator, mentor, and leader. Working with people to solve problems and build things is what I live for. The collaborative and social side of software development is what drives me to do my best work.
Having core values and principles is important to me. I believe in being honest, transparent, and kind to my colleagues and clients, irrespective of skill level or experience. I strive to do the right thing, even when it’s hard. If I didn't end up in software development, I would have most likely gone into psychology, medicine or physics. I love learning about the human mind and how it works,
I’m currently working remotely as a Senior Software Engineer at GoDaddy, where I contribute to the development of the GoDaddy Studio platform. I’m also a co-founder of a few side projects that I'm very excited to share with the world soon. I’m always looking for new opportunities to work on interesting projects with great people, so feel free to reach out if you’d like to chat.
